BRABUS was founded in 1977 by Bodo Buschmann and has grown into one of the world's largest tuning companies. BRABUS has its headquarters in Bottrop, in the heart of the Ruhr Valley, directly on the A2 autobahn. Its grounds house the global company's development and production departments as well as large showrooms.

An expansion of the BRABUS production and administration building was completed in the summer of 1999. Special requests by customers can now be handled even faster in the 112,000 square meter shop floor on BRABUS Allee.

Vehicle customisation and service work is done at 85 high-tech workstations. Cutting-edge computer technology is used to manage the 105,000-cubic-meter storage facility to guarantee speedy delivery of BRABUS parts to places all over the world.

Most testing is carried out at BRABUS's own test track, which features acceleration and braking tracks, sine curves, a circular track and a shake track with Belgian blocks. BRABUS currently employs 300 people in all.

New versions are continuously scrutinized in extensive testing programs. BRABUS places great emphasis on continuous, strict quality inspections of all its products. Needless to say BRABUS has ISO 9001 quality certification.

BRABUS also places high demands on its suppliers, working only with respected OE manufacturers like ARAL, Pirelli, Michelin, SACHS Race Engineering and Yokohama.

The high quality standards BRABUS imposes on its own developments, products and services find recognition by the automotive industry. In early summer of 2002 BRABUS together with MCC smart GmbH founded the smart-BRABUS GmbH, located in Bottrop. The joint venture company not only offers an exclusive accessories program for all smart models but also develops and manufactures the top-of-the-line models of all MCC model series.

Maximum environmental friendliness is at the forefront of all BRABUS developments: All BRABUS-tuned engines feature especially low fuel consumption and always remain well below current EU emission limits.

The BRABUS S 5.8 based on the new Mercedes S-Class exemplifies this marriage of superior performance and environmental compatibility. In mandatory emissions testing conducted by the German Vehicle Inspection Agency's Institute for Motor Vehicle Technology in Essen, the tuned 400 hp/ 294 kW eight-cylinder engine achieved the highest ratings in all categories, meeting even the Euro IV standards that do not go into effect until 2005. Emissions were up to 56 percent lower than maximum allowable limits. The engine also complies with the tough California limits for Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEV).

BRABUS also specializes in exclusive fully leather interiors, handcrafted in the company's own upholstery shop. BRABUS can also turn any Mercedes automobile into a fully functional office on wheels using professionally designed business equipment.

BRABUS is a highly respected partner to companies around the globe. In 1998 the company founded BRABUS North America Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary with headquarters in Newport Beach, California, to serve the Canadian and USA markets.
